Taking it off

Not too long ago I had a realization.

It wasn't a profound revelation or life-changing epiphany.  But it did occur to me that I missing something in my life here in Spain.

A can-opener.

I got a can of olives out of my cupboard and absentmindedly started looking for a can-opener.  Then I realized I didn't own one.  Mainly because I don't ever need one.

I'm not sure if it's throughout all of Europe, but all of the cans in Spain are easy-to-open.  You don't need a can-opener to live.  A bottle-opener and corkscrew, yes.  But a can-opener. not so much.  Things are pretty easy-going in Spain, including opening cans.

Like I said--opening cans.  Not life-chagning.  Probably not even blog-worthy.  But it's just one of those quirky cultural differences that sometimes almost go unnoticed.
